Thanks for GOTD sharing this app.

My instructors only post their PowerPoint lectures in PDF form. This is exactly what I need to convert the PDF files to PowerPoint format. It installs quickly and runs smoothly, and it can convert each PDF page to a different PPT slide, this function helps me a lot to save time, as I needn’t reformat it again after converting my PDF documents.

The Good:
1. Fast download and easy install on Windows 7 Home Basic
2. Support to convert each page in the PDF to one PowerPoint slide, and the layout is preserved perfectly, so I don’t need to reformat my converted PowerPoint documents
3. Images are converted with good quality from PDF to PowerPoint
4. Supports drag + drop
5. Supports batch conversion

The Bad:

This is a simple to use converter and works quite well for the most part however it is still a little buggy on occasion. Testing with page ranges from a batch of PDF files left some of the resulting PPTs with just a range of blank slides whereas doing the whole document worked OK.

It is quite fast to convert and can also convert encrypted PDF files but requires that you have MS Powerpoint installed which may not be the case for many.

A nice feature (which is currently not included) would be to allow combining of PDFs to create one output PPT file. Overall however, as this is free it is worth downloading for your occasional use (if you have powerpoint).

It's truly amazing how threatened some people find themselves by the mere fact that someone else posts information to help others out here evaluate the usefulness of the daily giveaways. There are several people out here who take the time to evaluate software in a non-cursory manner and post their observations and tips to help others get a feel for the software before taking their own time and perhaps ending up installing something that turns out to be useless to them. Ashraf seems to be the person who puts the most time and attention into doing this on a consistent basis. The short reviews that he posts here give a very good general indication of the pluses and minuses of the software as far as he has been able to deduce it. Obviously the extended reviews that are posted at his site, which often contain extensive use of thumbnails, videos, and references to other software, would neither be technically possible or appropriate for this "comment" format at the GOTD site, so he makes those extended evaluations available elsewhere, for those who might want to know more.

There seems to be some difference of opinion as to whether MS Powerpoint is needed for the proper functioning of this current GOTD offering or not, but if it were indeed necessary, I think anybody with a nickel's worth of common sense would realize that was quite a significant piece of information, rather than "knitpicking", unless you happen to be the kind of person that would buy an automobile and feel it was not important to know that the engine was an additional bit that was not included in the price of purchase and needed to be purchased elsewhere.

As far as complaining about the fact that Ashraf has a web site where people can go for further information about the giveaways here, I suggest that if the existence of that site bothers you so much, you refrain from going there. His site does not require registration to view, and people do not end up on any kind of "spam list" merely by visiting that site. In order to receive email from the site you have to request that, so if you signed up to get on his email list and have now found that you don't like receiving the email, you would probably find it much more productive to unsubscribe from the list rather than whining about the fact that you received email after you signed up for them. By the way, "spam" refers to *unsolicited* email, NOT to email that you requested to have sent to you. You should be a little more clear about the terms you sling around in public, as you may find yourself liable for slander.

Why people have to snivel and complain about others who take the time to offer their insight out here is completely beyond me. Sheesh.
