Tested on an older lady's face; and very rapidly many of the blemishes have been removed, it did this without a general blurring of the whole picture, and in essence the results were very pleasing.
Hopefully, in future versions it will be possible to zoom in rather more as I did find setting the iris of the eye somewhat difficult but certainly not impossible.
If you're into portraiture a very handy tool to have mainly because of the speed with which results can be obtained.
A quick note on registration and activation:-
Registration in 99% of programs is done when the program opens, if the program is open and then it is registered the program will be unaware of the fact.
So in essence, after registering the program or activating the program it must be reopened for the registration to be shown.

There are a few "features" of "PT Portrait" that will likely cause howls when a person first opens the program. I did not find that these features detracted from the way the program performs.
These first objections should be limited to the appearance of the program and not carry over into the programs performance-which happens to be very good.
Getting a few negatives out of the way.
1. You must open and close the program after it is installed and then run the activation program. When you go back and open the program you will see a dialog box that says "buy" or "trial". It is not that big a deal. I clicked the trial box, closed the program, and re-ran the activation program.
The program appears to be activated but I could not find an "about" notice saying that PT Portrait was metamorphic from trial mode into registered mode. I just no longer got any notification that the program I was running was a trial version. I can see several objections to the registration process though the whole process takes less than 7 to 10 seconds.
2. The big one. The noise level from this one will rise up to the mighty clouds. The user interface is bad, bad, bad. Because the user interface is so dark it is difficult or impossible to read without a good computer monitor and perhaps a magnifying glass.
Light gray letters and symbols on a black background is a poor choice when it comes to designing a user interface.
In the old days (20+ years ago), some programs, particularly programs belonging to the artist class, set themselves apart from run-of-the-mill art programs by having dark user interfaces - especially on opening pages. This behavior bucks the trend of art studios spending years working to develop bright vivid colors for photographs and then converting the final photographs to black-and-white. Black-and-white photographs I suppose have their attention grabbing affects but the also get old very quickly.
The dark user interface does not carry over into the photographs being adjusted by the program. Here the program provides fine adjustments for colors, contrast, shading, etc. with slide bars intended to give "an infinite number of analog adjustments". In differential equations this concept works quite well but with the low resolution on computer monitors there will be some variation in how well the slide bars perform. Over the past few weeks people have complained about some of the GOTD daily offerings not having a side-by-side comparison picture. The objection is that the original photograph should be placed immediately adjacent to the photograph being adjusted. I feel that is a legitimate complaint. No need to worry. PT portrait places the original photograph and the photograph being messed up being being adjusted next to each other. PT Portrait does an excellent job of re-creating the original photograph in its natural state and placing it in position where each small adjustment can be compared with the original.

If you are one of those who still regret having too hurriedly downgraded from ArcSoft’s Perfect365 to the much poorer in features Perfect365 Standard, because of a misleading GOTD sometime ago, this one (by the people who developed PhotoToolBox, also once offered here) will cheer you up. If you go through the hassle of carefully positioning all key points and if you play moderately on the sliders, it is a surprisingly good tool. It doesn’t have the gadget features of adding make-up or changing eye color, but strictly for retouching, it does its job which, contrary to other software of that kind, makes it suitable for men portraits, if used at low levels.
P.S. At first, I also got error messages about unreadable metadata for some scanned photos, but inexplicably, everything seems to work fine now.
