I've used AdMuncher for many years and have always found that it performs better than any other solution (that works only with a single web browser). The single install of AdMuncher will work with all the web browsers, and many other apps. You can define a rule or a whitelist - and it applies to all apps. There is no need to configure a separate program for each browser.

I strongly suggest that people download and try this giveaway - make the most of this offer while you can! admuncher = hide, block (domain and/or path), remove, add, whitelist and modify content.

hosts = block (domain only)

If you were to score it - AdMuncher = 6, hosts file = 0.5

A hosts file will break videos that have video ads and won't be able to collapse the space the ad occupied on a web site. In cases where a website hosts their own ads - AdMuncher can block just the ads, the host file will only let you block the entire site.

While you did mention that you haven't read anything or installed or used the software - you should have your eyes opened as to how flexible and powerful AdMuncher is in removing ads from webpages, videos etc, versus the host file method of just blocking entire web domains - and leaving webpages to look like there was some critical error while loading.

If you are running Ad Muncher, Ghostery is not needed at all.
